During January National Mentoring Month and to celebrate the national day of service on January 18 in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., NHLI is spotlighting alumnae who are making a difference in their communities through mentoring and volunteering.

Patricia L. Chavez, (ELP '91), President of PLC ENTERPRISES, recently returned from a month in South Africa where she was woking with the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business, the Ackerman Academy for Entrepreneurial Development, and the Amy Biehl Foundation of SA, whose programs are designed to develop and empower youth in the townships and contribute to community building efforts as a mechanism to reduce the levels of crime and violence and give these children a brighter future.
