Leadership on the Road
More than 500 Latinas attended NHLI's National Hispana Leadership Institute’s Latina Empowerment Conferences (LECs) in Philadelphia, PA, Washington, DC and Austin, Texas since the 2009 series kicked off in early April — far surpassing attendance goals at each event.
“In today’s economy where families across the nation are confronting a tough economy, community excitement over these conferences demonstrates that even in rough economic times, professional development and networking opportunities are recognized as essential to advance in our careers despite our occupational levels,” said Cristina López, NHLI’s President.
Attended by Latina leaders from the corporate, non-profit, and government sectors, NHLI's empowerment conferences are open to the public and held in different cities across the country. The conferences offer professional development training, networking opportunities with regional and national leaders, and peer to peer learning through an interactive panel of successful Latina leaders.
Support from sponsors has been critical in continuing NHLI's quality programs. “Our regional conference sponsors recognize NHLI’s effectiveness in developing strong leaders and the community impact of our leadership conferences. We thank our long-time supporter and title sponsor of NHLI’s Latina Empowerment Conference series, State Farm Insurance Companies, and co-sponsors Merck (Philadelphia LEC), UPS (Atlanta LEC) and Ford (Chicago LEC) for their commitment to investing in our communities and developing strong leaders,” concluded López.
The conferences will continue in Atlanta, GA, July 22, and will culminate in Chicago, IL, August 14. To register for upcoming conferences click here.
