PROMOTIONS

Helen Dorado-Alessi (’04) has joined Toyota Motor North America, Inc. as the Corporate Manager of Philanthropy and the Toyota USA Foundation.

Bettina Rodriguez Aguilera (’94) was elected by the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) as the State Director for Florida serving as the head of the state representing issues affecting the Hispanic population in LULAC’s national board.
Ana Maria SotoAna María Soto (’04) she was hired by National-Louis University to spearhead Proyecto Comunidad, aimed at increasing the number of Chicago Latinos earning degree.
PUBLIC SERVICE

Cynthia CassanoCynthia Cassano (’04) is training to climb Mount Kilimanjaro with the Global Volunteer Network. It will be a fundraising mission dedicated to helping children in the orphanages in Kenya, Africa.

Marisa J. Demeo (’01) was selected Magistrate Judge on the District of Columbia Superior Court in July 2007.
Monica Garcia (’05) took over as President of the Los Angeles Board of Education in July 2007 setting in motion a sweeping reform agenda amid celebration from Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.
AWARDS
At the recent 30-year anniversary of the Denver Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Olga Garcia, Coors’ Director for Diversity Recruitment, was named “Businesswoman of the Year.”

Dr. Sandra Madrid (’92), Lilly J. Aguilar (’92) and Sylvia Cavazos (’95) were honored by the Women of Color Empowered at the “Mentors & Community Legacy” luncheon for their professional and community leadership as well as mentoring other people of color.

The Third Annual Poderometro 2007, Hispanic News Press and El Planeta Newspaper recognized Raquel Ortiz (’00) as one of the 100 people that have most influenced the Hispanic Community in Massachusetts in 2007.

 

 

Fátima Perez (’06) received the Young Hispanic Corporate Award from HACR.

 

 

Linda Rivera (’01) was honored with the presentation of a Crystal Apple Award from the CCSD Board for her outstanding dedication to students and their education.

Eileen Torres (’91) and Maria Inés-Castro (’07) were recipients of the 2007 Ana Maria Arias Business Fund Award.

María Antoñieta Trejo (’06) was presented with a Superior Honor Award from her client bureau.

EDUCATION

Erlinda Gonzales (’06) graduated in May 2007 with her Master’s in Public Administration from the University of New Mexico-Taos.

CONGRATULATIONS

Evelyn Garcia, NHLI Program Coordinator and LLL ’04, was married to Victor Morales in their hometown of Las Vegas, NV on Saturday, March 8, 2008.
