NHLI Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month With Celebrity Chef Napolitano
The National Hispana Leadership Institute (NHLI) celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month on September 24, 2007 with “Celebrity Chef” Congresswoman Grace F. Napolitano (D-CA). The evening was a special fundraiser in support of NHLI’s 20 years of preparing Latinas for leadership positions. The event was hosted by NHLI Board Chair Ingrid Duran and Catherine Pino, NHLI alumni (2006), co-founders of D&P Creative Strategies, LLC.
The fun-filled evening featured home-made Mexican recipes, prepared by “Celebrity Chef” Congresswoman Grace F. Napolitano including her family’s famous enchiladas, papas con carne, and rice and beans. Special ingredients of the recipes were personally carried by the Congresswoman to ensure the meal retained the traditional flavors of Mexico! NHLI presented our “Celebrity Chef” with a professional chef’s apron embroidered with the title of “Chef Congresswoman Napolitano”.
A special thank you to our “Celebrity Chef” Congresswoman Napolitano and the hosts Ingrid Duran and Catherine Pino, the Class of 2007, NHLI alumnae and Friends of the Institute who were instrumental in successfully raising over $10,000 during the event and silent auction.
