NHLI Chair Dr. Sandra Madrid becomes first Hispanic woman elected as Board Chair for the United Way of King County

Dr. Sandra Madrid of Seattle was elected as the first Hispanic woman to serve as Board Chair for the United Way of King County. It is the largest United Way campaign in the country with over $98 million in contributions last year. Since 1921 the United Way of King County has served the community with an emphasis on the homeless and children of King County.

Dr. Madrid will support the mission of this great organization and show her commitment to helping the homeless and leading children to brighter futures through education. As NHLI Board Chair and now Board Chair for the United Way,

Dr. Madrid represents a leader in the Hispanic community, and more importantly, a Latina leading the way in a society where Latinas can make a difference. In 2006, she also received the King County Bar Foundation Champion of Diversity Award.
