2005 NHlI Executive Program Highlights

Creating a National Network

The 2005 California Training in San Juan Bautista focused on the power of team-building and community leadership. Sessions included practical skills on the art of negotiations in business and life, diversity, cross-cultural communication, the nature of human beings, conflict resolution, the development of support networks and race, class and gender issues.

The California week sets the groundwork for personal growth, change, servant leadership and determination that continued throughout the next three weeks of training and for years to come.

Latina Voices at Harvard

It was another successful year as Latina voices were heard throughout Harvard campus. The 2005 Fellows brought their skills, knowledge and culture to the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University for a rigorous week.

The JFK Harvard Executive Program gave the 2005 Fellows leadership strategies for the 21st century. Harvard professors presented the case study method, and an overview of public management, negotiation skills, strategic and leadership management theories.

Fellows participated in a Forum Event with Senator John Edwards who discussed national policies on poverty.

At the end of a successful week, the Fellows discussed their own Action Plans.
