Dr. Francine De Ferreire Kemp (’99) received her Ph.D. from the University of Phoenix. Virginia Governor Mark Warner appointed her to a four-year commission on the Virginia Small Business Advisory Board. She was sworn in on July 2005.

Elena del Valle (’99) has published and edited Hispanic Marketing & Public Relations: Understanding and Targeting America’s Largest Minority, a book for marketing professionals and students.

Cecelia M. Espenoza (’03) is running for the School Board in Arlington, Virginia. If elected, she will be the first Latina on the School Board.

Gerlinda Gallegos Somerville (’03) was promoted to Extramural Program Manager with the Division of Public Health Partnerships/National Center for Health Marketing.

Celia Nuñez (’04) was promoted to Policy Advisor for the City of Portland, Oregon at the Office of Commissioner Randy Leonard.

Mary Lou Olivarez–Mason (’02) received the prestigious Ohtli Award. The highest recognition awarded by the Mexican government, it is given to individuals who heighten the quality of life for Mexicans abroad.

Janey Pearl (LLL ’02), a Latinas Learning to Lead graduate, was accepted to one of Harvard’s graduate programs focused on developing resiliency in at-risk youth.

Nereida “Neddy” Perez (‘00) was hired by Sodexho USA as the Diversity Rela-tions Executive, after a successful career with Shell Companies.

 

Sylvia Salas (’95) is now the Principal of Philanthropy Advisors & Management Group.

 

Sandra Sanchez (‘90) has joined the Federal Aviation Administration as Vice President of Communications responsible for employee information, external information and congressional relations for Air Traffic Control.

Amy Serrano (’04) was selected as one of 15 young Hispanic leaders and participated in a diplomatic exchange between U.S. and Spain with their top leaders in the economic, social and cultural arenas. The Program is organized through the Spanish Embassy in Washington, DC and the US-Spain Council.

Dr. Ana Vazquez (’97) was hired as Deputy Dean of Students for the University of Chicago.

Linda Villegas Bremer (’00) became the Director of the Department of General Administration for the State of Washington.
