produces the national corporate programs for the Hispanic market
and works closely with national Hispanic community organizations
on program development and sponsorship of events. NHLI has been
the beneficiary of Coors outreach efforts and looks forward to Garcia’s
participation on the Board.
“I’m
excited to join the NHLI Board of Directors at a critical time when
we can take the organization to a higher level during the next 15
years! Coors Brewing Company has always had a vested interest in
NHLI’s success, and the return on our investment will continue to
pay dividends to our community well into the future.”

Victoria
Varela
Victoria
Varela is CEO of San Antonio-based The Cartel Group, one of the
top three largest independently owned and operated Hispanic marketing
communications firms in the nation. Varela will bring to NHLI the
same unrelenting drive she used to take The Cartel Group from zero
to $100 million in annual billings in six years.
“I
look forward to helping the Institute in leading and embracing Latina
opportunities. … We are the new breed of the future and we’ll put
forward The Cartel Group’s 100 years of collective insight and experience

Delena
Sunday
The
impact of the Latina dollar on the U.S. economy is a familiar subject
to new NHLI Board Member Delena Sunday. However, as Executive Vice
President, Diversity Affairs, Nordstrom, Inc., Sunday makes sure
those dollars find their way back to the Latino community. Nordstroms
diversity initiatives in the areas of recruitment, employment and
promotion, employee training, supplier diversity, and community
outreach all fall under her authority. Explaining her excitement
to join the NHLI Board, Sunday states,
Nordstrom
is committed to and recognizes the importance of NHLIs mission.
We, too, value the importance of education in recognizing, developing
and understanding the strengths of individuals as well as the importance
of applying those strengths personally and professionally.
