Mainstream organizations are struggling to fill Board of Director slots with talented minorities, and in particular women.  But getting on a Board is only half the challenge; once you are there, you are expected to perform. It’s important for Latinas to serve on community as well as national boards, and ensure the Latina/o voice is at the table when making important policy and resource allocation decisions.  It is also important to find a good match to your interests and skills. Learn how organizations recruit and what they are looking for in potential Board candidates, how to network yourself into a prestigious national board, and once you are there what you are expected to deliver, and how you decide which board is the best fit for you.

  • Identify obstacles – real or imagined – that Latinas face when running for elected office
